Abstract
This article examines the age characteristics of involving children in preschool education and the knowledge, skills, and competencies that children should acquire before entering school. The development of speech, intellectual abilities, physical skills, social interaction, and emotional competence during the preschool period is considered as an important component of school readiness. Particular attention is given to the development of children's independence, communication skills, basic mathematical concepts, creative thinking, and everyday life skills. The article emphasizes that school readiness should not be limited to the ability to read, write, and count, but should include the comprehensive development of the child. The importance of cooperation between the family and preschool education institution in ensuring successful adaptation to school is also discussed.
