Abstract

This article analyzes the modern taxonomic status of the genus Marchantia L. based on 2 groups of characters: morphological and molecular. The genus belongs to the family Marchantiaceae and includes approximately 40 species. 6 main morphological characters and the role of molecular phylogenetic markers in clarifying species relationships and taxonomic boundaries are considered. The findings provide a theoretical basis for the study of Marchantia representatives in the flora of Uzbekistan.
