Abstract

This article scientifically and theoretically analyzes the role and significance of mythology as an important factor in the formation of classical literature. The genesis of myth, its transformation in the process of transition from oral folk art to written literature, as well as the influence of mythological images and plots on the formation of classical literature genres are highlighted. During the research, on the basis of the comparative-historical method, the reflection of Turkic mythology in examples of Uzbek classical literature, the mythological foundations of the dastan tradition, and the mythological elements in the works of such classics as Yusuf Khass Hajib, Alisher Navoi, and Lutfi were studied. The conclusion of the article presents the historical role of mythology in the development of written literature and its significance in modern literary studies.
